Picture of the day: October 16, 2012

You probably know that The Third Man Records is an independent record label founded by Jack White in 2001. Its major building is located in Nashville, Tennessee where you can find record store, performance venue (otherwise called The Blue Room) and, of course, headquarters of the label.

This label releases music on all kind of formats, but their main format is vinyl.

All Jack White's projects (The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, solo) obviously release their records under this label. However, artists like Black Lips, Karen Elson, The Black Belles, Alabama Shakes, Beck and others have also released their records via The Third Man Records. To see full catalog, visit their website.

This label also organizes various kind of events. Most importantly, they invite artists to perform at their performance venue. This month, they scheduled these artists to perform at their headquarters:

The Shins - October 6
The Kills - October 10
Olivia Wyatt - October 23
Seasick Steve - October 26

Here is a photo from last week's show when The Kills performed at The Blue Room.

Song of the day: Adele - "Skyfall"

Adele has been taking a little rest during this year. In October of last year, she had to undergo vocal cord surgery and although, she appeared in February at Grammy Awards, she has been otherwise quiet the whole year (at least regarding music - in June, she announced that she is expecting her first baby).

However, things quite change when she announced she's been writing theme song for new James Bond movie called Skyfall. The song is also called "Skyfall" and it was released earlier this month (October).

The track was written by Adele and british producer and songwriter Paul Epworth (who has previously worked with artists like Bloc Party, Babyshambles, Kate Nash, Primal Scream, Florence and the Machine or Foster the People).

You can now listen to the song and watch music video for this track, which was made by Nick Chappell below.

The Rolling Stones finally confirmed 50th anniversary concerts

You all probably know that legendary band The Rolling Stones is celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band this year. For this occasion, they released book, documentary, changed their logo and will also release two new songs (one of them called "Doom and Gloom" is already out), which will be featured on new compilation entitled Grrr! (it is out on November 12).

However, many people were waiting for some live shows. They have been previously rumoured, but no official announcements were made. Until yesterday.

They have finally confirmed four 50th anniversary celebration shows. The band will perform on November 25 and 29 at London's O2 Arena and on December 13 and 15 at Newark's Prudential Center.

Mick Jagger said about the chosen places of shows:

"Everybody loves a celebration, and London and New York are two good places to do it in!"

Guitarist Keith Richards added:

"Sorry to keep you all hanging around but the waiting is over. I’ve always said the best place for rock and roll is on the stage and the same is true for the Stones. I’m here with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie and everything is rocking. See you very soon!"

Check out new music videos from The xx, Two Door Cinema Club and Billy Talent

There was quite a lot of new music videos released lately. The xx, Two Door Cinema Club and Billy Talent all have new (and also great) videos out.

First video I'm gonna write about is from british minimalistic indie pop band The xx. London trio released their sophomore record entitled Coexist in September of this year. They continue with their typical sound on this record because why change anything what already is good and people love it, right?

Anyway, first single of the album was track called "Angles", which was actually released almost two months ahead of the album release - July 17. Second single of the album called "Chained" was also released before the album came out - on August 7. However, there was no music video for it, until now.

Yesterday (October 15), the band finally released music video for "Chained". It was directed by Young Replicant and it was made with conjunction with The Creators Project. Check out this beautiful video below.

Second video is from Irish indie rock band Two Door Cinema club, which also released their second album this year. Record entitled Beacon was released in late August. First single of it was track called "Sleep Alone". The second one is entitled "Sun"and it will be out on November 19. The music video is already made though. Check this interesting video below.

Last video I'm gonna write about is from Canadian rock band Billy Talent. Their fourth record entitled Dead Silence was released on September 11. After "Viking Death March", we now have a new single called "Surprise Surprise". Check out the music video for it below.
