iPUNKed

iPUNKed is a brand new series, which is made by czech punk website called ipunk.cz. So far, there are three parts of the series.

iPUNKed is usually 30-minute long video (posted on YouTube), which features one popular punk band and one upcoming smaller band. First part featured american pop punk band Set Your Goals, second part featured canadian SUM 41 and third featured Yellowcard.

Interviewer asks the band usual questions about band members, plans and near past or future. However, iPUNKed is special because interviewer also asks the band questions about current music news. It is really entertaining to watch what famous bands have to say about other bands.

I will post here on my blog every new part of iPUNKed because I feel like these videos should be seen by more people.

Check all three parts here:

I think that this picture is really great. It features two female artists - Paramore's Hayley Williams and The Subways' Charlotte Cooper. Photo was taken at Reading Festival 2012.

Song of the day: Reignwolf - "Bycicle"

This guy is just incredible. He by himself is able to create such great sounds that some 4-piece bands don't sound as good as Reignwolf. He is very talented and his ability to play on drums and guitar at the same time while singing is very unusual. I think that we will hear about this artist more in the future because his skills can't be neglected.

Song of the day: Lostprophets - "Last Train Home"

Lostprophets performed their classic track "Last Train Home" acoustically at this year's Warped Tour. Track comes from their sophomore album Start Something, which was band's breakthrough album. I think that this version is really great.

Song of the day: John Butler - "Kimberley"

I know that I've been writing about John Butler quite a lot lately. However, I feel like you should know about this great man and his work.

He publicly supports activists at Kimberley who try to preserve the nature and animals in this area. He performed this track dedicated to Kimberley in front of the crew of the Steve Irwin.

Angry Birds Green Day

Well, this is really interesting. Green Day probably want to make as much hype as possible before their trilogy release, and they obviously don't care how they do it.

They decided to team up with Rovio company, creators of very popular smartphone, tablet and Facebook game Angry Birds. New edition of this game called Angry Birds Green Day is available now to play on Facebook as part of Angry Birds Friends game.

In the background you can hear Green Day's song "Oh Love" and also brand new track called "Troublemaker":

Song of the day: Jack White - "Hotel Yorba"

Jack White was one of the headliners of Outside Lands festival, which took place on August 10-12 in San Francisco, CA. Artists like Foo Fighters, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Metallica or Sigur Ros also headlined the venue.

Jack White not only performed regular gig at Lands End (Polo Field) stage, but also played a surprise set in the woods with his all-female band. It was pretty cool of him.

Song of the day: My Morning Jacket - "Outta My System"

This is the newest music video from My Morning Jacket. It is pretty cool animated trippy music video. Track "Outta My System" comes from their latest sixth studio album Circuital, which came out last year in May. Check it out below.

Listen to new track from Muse!

Everybody probably knows that Muse is realeasing their sixth studio album entitled The 2nd Law on October 1, 2012. They have already revealed two tracks from the album - "Survival" (official song of 2012 London Olympic Games) and "The 2nd Law: Unsustainable", which you can hear below.

However, none of these tracks were official single of the album. Band released just today their first single from The 2nd Law. Song is called "Madness" and band also made a lyric video for it. You can watch it here:

I think that this track is good as well.  I feel that this is more typical Muse song. "Survival" has a Queen vibe and "The 2nd Law: Unsustainable" is influenced by dubstep artist Skrillex.

I gotta say that all three songs are great and even though they are all so different I like them all. I like when band is not afraid to go different direction and try something new.

This photo was taken from Foo Fighters' gig at Prague, which took place on August 15 at O2 Arena Praha. I wasn't able to attend this show, but I hope I will have a chance too see these guys because I think that they are one of the best current rock bands.

Song of the day: John Butler - "Ocean"

John Butler has decided to re-record his instrumental track "Ocean", which he has been performing for last 12 years. It was recorded in his studio called The Compound in his hometown of Fremantle Western Australia in February 2012.

For John, this track is very special. He has written about the track:

"OCEAN is a very interesting aspect of my life. It is part of my DNA. It conveys all things I can't put into words.
Life, loss, love, spirit. As I evolve so too does 'Ocean'. The song was first recorded as part of my first album/cassette,
"Searching For Heritage", which I sold when I busked, then for my first self-titled studio album 12 years ago -- "John Butler (1998)".
The song has been watched online incredibly over 25 million times in various formats, nearly always live, be it from MusicMax Sessions or from one of the many festivals I have had the pleasure to play. I'd like to thank you for your continued support over all these years; it means so much to me. I would like to thank you by offering this first studio recording of 'Ocean' in over a decade as a free download.
I recorded it in my favourite studio, The Compound here in Fremantle Western Australia, a studio you helped me build.
This marks just another fleeting moment in a career that is very much ongoing.
I look forward to bringing you many new songs and albums into the future and continuing this amazing journey with you ALL.
THANK YOU,
J.B"

You can download "Ocean" here.

I really admire this artist because I can feel he does music with passion and with his heart. This track only proves this fact.

Song of the day: Mumford & Sons - "I Will Wait"

This is the first track revealed from Mumford & Sons' upcoming record. "I Will Wait" is good track and I hope the whole album will be as good as this track.

New album Babel is out on September 24.

Listen to new track from Green Day

The Green Day have revealed second single from their first record of the upcoming album trilogy. The song is called "Kill The DJ" and it is the second single after "Oh Love" from ¡Uno!.

The track is not bad, but in fact, I expected something different from their new sound. I like "Oh Love" much better.

Actually, the band also revealed third song from their upcoming trilogy. Even though, it is recorded live, it is good and I feel that "Let Yourself Go" should be the second single.

Watch The Gaslight Anthem's entire performance at Letterman

As you all know, The Gaslight Anthem released awesome record entitled Handwritten last month. Roughly three weeks before the official release of the record, the band performed at Letterman.

You can now watch the entire performance from that night - it is quite awesome.

Sorry I've been posting so little lately, but it is summer so I try to go out as much as possible. However, when I have little time I always try to post something new.

This photo comes from Slovak Grape Festival, which took place last weekend. Artists like Morcheeba, Example, The Subways or Blood Red Shoes performed at this festival.

The Subways were even kind enough to perform intimate acoustic set before their main gig. Here is photo from the set:

Song of the day: Moby - "Extreme Ways"

Great movie trilogy The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum will now have a follow-up. New movie will be called Bourne Legacy and will be in theaters next week. Although Matt Damon won't appear in this movie, I have a good feeling about it.

Anyways, as you may know, Moby's track "Extreme Ways" appeared in all three movies. And this fourth one will be no exception. Except, Bourne Legacy will feature re-recorded and re-arranged version of the song:

You can also check out the orchestral version of the track:

Song of the day: Japandroids - "Fire's Highway"

Incredible performance of Japandroids performing "Fire's Highway" at Pitchfork Music Festival 2012. Unbelievable how awesome they sound even though they're only two-piece band.

Hear Biffy Clyro's first song from their forthcoming album!

Yesterday, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro premiered their first single from their forthcoming record at BBC Radio 1. The track is called "Stingin' Belle" and it is first track revealed from Opposites. Today the band also revealed a music video for this song:

Double album, which will consist of two separate parts entitled The Land At The End Of Our Toes and The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones. Release date haven't been officially confirmed yet, but it should come out later this year.

According to bassist James Johnston, new single predicts how the new album will sound like. Frontman Simon Neil added that first album will focus on negative side of life and the second album will be positive.
