Song of the day: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Never Is A Long Time"

Red Hot Chili Peppers just released their third pair of nine pairs of 7'' singles. These all comes from I'm With You sessions and are released over period of 6 months. New singles all called "Never Is A Long Time" and "Love Of Your Life". You can now check them both below. These singles are actually all pretty good and I even think that some of these "b-sides" are better than the actual tracks included on I'm With You.

Previously released pairs of singles were: "Strange Man/"Long Progression" and "Magpies On Fire"/"Victorian Machinery". You can check them all here.

Listen to new song from Soundgarden!

You all probably know that legendary band Soundgarden will release new album called King Animal on November 13. It will be their first full-length album since 1996's Down on the Upside (that's long 15 years).

You could previously hear new track called "Live to Rise", which was also featured on The Avengers movie soundtrack. The song itself was not bad at all.

Now they revealed first single of new record. It is called "Been Away Too Long" and holly shit, it's awesome. It is heavy and fast and I just love it. Give it a listen below.

Head Count is a non profit organization that promotes participation in democracy. It does it by working with musicians of different genres of music. Of course, they are currently running programs regarding upcoming presidential elections in the US.

They go to many festivals and concerts and encourage people to register to vote so they can participate in upcoming elections. According to their website, they "translate the power of music into real action". So far, Head Count has registered 200,000 voters since 2004. They attend 1,000 festivals and concerts a year.

The Kills is one of many musicians that work with this organization. They recently posted a picture of Alison Mosshart (singer of the band) with a sign "Register To Vote Here". By this, of course, they want to encourage people to register.

American punk rock band Alkaline Trio is a band that plays mainly darker tracks. They are also influenced by satanism. Singer of the band Mike Skiba is a member of Anton LaVey's Church of Satan and believes that it's not all about fire, brimstone and threats of eternal damnation.

Here is a part of an his interview for MTV in 2005:

"Really, the faith's simply about theatrics, how to comport yourself when you're out and about (for instance, one of the church's Ten Commandment-like mandates forbids followers from bothering others in open territory, but "if someone bothers you, ask him to stop — if he does not stop, destroy him") and maintaining a cool, sinister image. And, doggonit, it's "really fun."

Anyway, I like their music and I like how they're not afraid to say what they think and what they believe in and most importantly - they are not afraid to express these things in their music.

They have recorded so far 8 studio albums. The last one called Damnesia was little different though. It contained only older tracks, but recorded acoustically. It sounds actually pretty cool. Exciting news is that new album is coming pretty soon because yesterday they posted this picture via their Facebook page with a note "Today we begin making our next record with Bill Stevenson, a long time hero and friend. We couldn't be more excited."

Song of the day: Public Image Ltd. - "Reggie Song"

You all probably know that leader of legendary punk band Sex Pistols (funny thing is that they released only one studio LP - Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols) , John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten, established Public Image Ltd. right after Sex Pistols broke up. Interesting fact about this band is that 17 studio members and 12 live members have played in this band so far. That's quite a lot. Of course, John Lydon is the only former member of the band.

So far, they have released 9 studio albums. The latest was released only recently - on May 28, 2012. This is Pil is band's first new album in 20 years. "Reggie Song" is also featured on the record. You can now watch the performance of it below.

Watch Green Day's concert at Irvin Plaza

Like I recently said, Green Day is just all over the news and it doesn't seem like it will change in near future. Yesterday, there was released first track from second album of the trilogy ;Dos! and Alanis Morissette covered their classis song "Basket Case" during Jimmy Kimmel Live performance. Three days ago, they revealed new music video for "Stay The Night" and the same day, Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab for substance abuse treatment.

The band also recently posted first part of their concert at Irvin Plaza. This first part is 22 minutes long and features these tracks: "Welcome to paradise", "Murder city", "Know your enemy", "Nuclear family" and "Stay the night". Check it out below.

!UPDATE!
Below you can watch second (and probably the last) part of this great show. The second part features tracks "Burnout", Hitchin' A Ride", "Letterbomb", "When I Come Around", "She" and "American Idiot".

Hear first track from Green Day's ;Dos!

Well, Green Day's first album of their upcoming trilogy, ;Uno!,  has been officially out for 2 respectively 3 days (depending on whether you're from the US or UK) and so far, it hasn't got much positive reviews. However, I like it because it's got everything I expect from this band - nothing more nothing less.

Second album entitled ;Dos! isn't out until November 13, but already now you can listen to half of the first track revealed form this record. It is entitled "Lazy Bones" and it is unlocked after you reach Level 15 at Angry Birds Green Day Facebook game, which has been recently updated. The song itself is decent. You can hear it here via Green Day Authority website.

Hear Alanis Morissette cover Green Day's "Basket Case"

Alanis Morissette released new studio LP entitled Havoc and Bright Lights last month (August 28). This week she appeared at Jimmy Kimmel Live and performed songs from this new record as well as some older tunes.

Surprising to me was when she performed Green Day's classic track "Basket Case". She probably did so because of Billie Joe's drug addiction problems. She even said at the end of the song "I love you Billie Joe", which is kind of nice.

You can watch this slow performance as well as performances of "Guardian" and "Right Through You" below.

Picture of the day: September 26, 2012

Freshly reunited No Doubt just released their first new studio record in eleven years. It is entitled Push and Shove and it came out on September 21. Singer of the band Gwen Stefani posted this picture recently with a tweet "This is really happening!New album in 6 days!!!".

The record features these 11 tracks:

"Settle Down"
"Looking Hot"
"One More Summer"
"Push And Shove (featuring Busy Signal and Major Lazer)"
"Easy"
"Gravity"
"Undercover"
"Undone"
"Sparkle"
"Heaven"
"Dreaming The Same Dream"

You can also stream the entire album here before you decide to buy it.

Song of the day: Muse - "Madness"

New album from Muse entitled The 2nd Law isn't out until next week (October 1). However, you can now stream it in its entirety. I gave it a try couple of times and I have mixed feelings about it. It is good - they definitely discovered new sounds once again, but I kind of don't like it as a whole. I don't know, maybe it'll grow on me over time.

Anyway, they appeared on Later... with Jools Holland last night (September 25). They performed their first single of their upcoming record "Madness". Actually, it is my favorite track of the album.

First when I heard this track though, I was wondering how the hell they will play this live. I was afraid that they will just play most of the music from synthesizers and computers, but I was wrong. I am really happy they do all this music with actual instruments.

Listen to new track from Avenged Sevenfold

American rock/metal band Avenged Sevenfold has been pretty busy touring basically since release of their last studio album in July of 2010. They've been pretty much on the road since Nightmare came out. Obviously, they didn't have much time working on new tracks while being on the road so all their fans had to wait for new music from them for a while.

However, yesterday they finally released new track called "Carry On". It will be featured on very anticipated new video game Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which comes out on November 13.

I hope that this new song also means new album in near future. I really like their last two studio albums and I hope they will keep up good work even without The Rev... Based on this song, it seems like they still got it because it sounds awesome.

Watch new Crystal Castles video

In July, I informed you about new track from Canadian electronic duo Crystal Castles called "Plague". It is first track revealed form their forthcoming album. The album should come out sometime in November. However, exact release date is still unknown. Also, the title is yet unknown, but based on their previous two records (they were entitled simply Crystal Castles), there is no need to announce the title...

Now they revealed a music video for this song. It is dark and twisted just like we expect from this duo. It features a female going crazy... That's pretty much the whole video.

Song of the day: Green Day - "Jesus of Suburbia"

This is actually pretty awesome performance of Green Day's track called "Jesus of Suburbia". It obviously comes from their seventh grammy-winning concept album American Idiot, which came out eight year ago - on September 21, 2004.

During this performance, 21-year old guy (who probably had a birthday on day of this concert or something) is asked to go on stage, drink a whole beer and then perform "Jesus of Suburbia" with the band. I love how happy he looks and how well he enjoys this one-time-in-a-life moment.

Green Day is actually pretty nice band because they do this quite often during their live shows. I think it is awesome that they try to connect with their fans.

Picture of the day: September 25, 2012

I know that it is unbelievable, but it is exactly 21 years and 1 day since Nirvana's legendary album Nevermind was released. This album probably changed the whole music.

It came out on September 24, 1991 via DGS Records. It was produced by current Garbage's drummer Butch Vig (he also produced records like The Smashing Pumpkins' Gish, Sonic Youth's Dirty and Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star, Jimmy Eat World's Chase This Light and, of course, Foo Fighters' Wasting Light). It was recorded during May and June in Sound City Studios (Dave Grohl is making a movie about this studio).

I think that this album don't feature a song that is bad. All tracks are awesome or at least good and I know that this album has changed a lot of people.

Cover of the album has also interesting story. It was Kurt Cobain's idea to make such cover after he watched water births with Dave Grohl. First, they wanted to use real water births images, but they were too vivid for the record company. Therefore, they settled to shoot babies in a pool. Then they chose image of an infant named Spencer Elden. However, there was again a problem with a penis, which was too big. The only compromise that Kur Cobain would agree on was to put a sticker over it with a sign "If you're offended by this, you must be a closet pedophile."

What do you think of the album?

Watch: Green Day - "Stay The Night"

I know that I write about Green Day a lot lately. But it won't probably change in near future because there is just too much hype about this band these days - their upcoming album trilogy, today's release of ;Uno! or Billie Joe Armstrong's recent meltdown are all pretty hot news in music world.

Last Friday, they also revealed new music video for track called "Stay The Night". It obviously comes from ;Uno!. You can now check it out below.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong enters rehab after recent on-stage meltdown

Green Day's ninth studio album and also first album of their ;Uno! ;Dos! ;Tré! album trilogy - ;Uno!, is out today (September 24). For me, the album is really good. It's got variety of different sounding songs, which in the end fit together really well. It's got faster, old-school Green Day sounding songs such as "Nuclear Family" or "Let Yourself Go". But there are also songs with new Green Day sound on the album - "Oh Love" or "Kill The DJ".

It is shame though that release of this LP overshadowed other news. Last Friday (November 21), Green Day performed at iHeart Radio Festival alongside artists like Taylor Swift, Pink, Rihanna, and Swedish House Mafia (I don't even know why they played this "festival" but that doesn't really matter now). During their set, frontman of the band Billie Joe Armstrong got really pissed and smashed his guitar because apparently their 45-minute set was cut short so Usher could play longer.

I don't know if Billie Joe's loss of his shit was acted or not, but this is what he said:

"Oh, fuck this shit. I’m gonna play a fucking new song. Fuck this shit. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. One minute fucking left. You’re gonna give me one fucking minute? Look at that fucking sign right there — one minute. Let me fucking tell you something, let me tell you something, I’ve been around since fucking 198-fucking-8. And you’re gonna give me one fucking minute? You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me! You’re fucking kidding me. What the fuck! I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers. You’ve gotta be fucking joking. This is a fucking joke. I got one minute — one minute left. Oh, now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one fucking minute fucking means. [smashes guitar] One minute. God fucking love you all. We’ll be back."

However, that's not everything. Two days after this incident, Armstrong entered rehab for substance abuse treatment. Obviously, they canceled all upcoming promotional activities.

This is kind of sad because I quite like Billie and his band. I hope he gets well soon.

Listen to Muse's The 2nd Law

Muse are going to release their long-awaited sixth studio album entitled The 2nd Law on October 1 in UK and one day later in the US. They have already revealed three tracks of the album: 2012 Olympic Games official song, "Survival", "The 2nd Law: Unsustainable" and first single of the album, "Madness".

Also, if you want to hear final track of the album - "The 2nd Law: Isolated System", visit connectome.muse.mu where you can also watch pretty cool animation while listening to the song. The track itself is obviously continuation of "The 2nd Law: Unsustainable", but without dubstep elements.

However, that's not everything because you can tonight (September 24) hear the album in its entirety. Just visit their website for more information.

UPDATED:
Stream the album easily here (via Guardian).

Song of the day: Incubus - "If Not Now, When?"

Awesome band Incubus released their seventh studio album entitled If Not Now, When? last year. This record was little different than their previous albums mainly because it wasn't as heavy. However, it is great record with some heavier tunes as well.

Title track is one of my favorites of this album and you can now watch its performance from Incubus HQ Live concert, which took place in Los Angeles last summer.

It is unbelievable how good singer Brandon Boyd sounds live. His singing skills are just incredible.

Watch The Hives perform at KEXP

Swedish garage rock band (which I absolutely love), The Hives, have released awesome record on June 1. It is entitled Lex Hives (it supposedly means "law of The Hives") and it features 12 fast, straight-forward rock'n'roll songs.

On September 8, they appeared on KEXP radio. During the great 30-minute show, which was broadcasted live, they performed 7 tracks:

"Come On"
"Try It Again"
"Take Back The Toys"
"Hate To Say I Told You So"
"Go Right Ahead"
"Wait A Minute"
"Tick Tick Boom"

KEXP was kind enough to put the whole show on their YouTube channel and therefore we all can enjoy this great music.

Song of the day: The Kills - "My Passion Is Accurate"

This is a rare music video for 2005's B-side "My Passion Is Accurate". The video is so rare because of the fact that it has never been officially released. I really don't know how and why this video got out after all this time.

However, I like both track and video and I wonder why they didn't officially release it back in 2005. What do you think of it?

Watch entire The Killers' UNSTAGED show

American Express UNSTAGED is a music series created by Vevo, YouTube and American Express. In this series, full live shows are streamed live via YouTube. Afterwards, some of these live streams are available to be watched.

On Tuesday this week (September 18), american well known band The Killers performed live from Paradise Theater in NYC as part of this music series. Don't worry if you missed to watch the show live.

Today, it was posted online on The Killers Vevo channel in its entirety. I don't know if the show stays there permanently or for limited time only. Anyway, now you can watch it below.

I haven't watched it yet, but I plan to do so later tonight. Based on playlist, it is an awesome show because they included new tracks from their newest record Battle Born, which came out this week, but also older classics like "Somebody Told Me", "Human" or "Mr. Brightside".

Setlist:

"Runaways"
"Somebody Told Me"
"Smile Like You Mean It"

Picture of the day: September 19, 2012

Today's picture was posted by NOFX singer and bassist Fat Mike via his Twitter. The photo was taken in downtown of Indianapolis. He also posted funny note:

"But downtown Indianapolis is pretty fucking cool. Took a photo of me and a local Mexican worker"

I hope you all know that "local Mexican worker" is El Hefe - guitarist of NOFX...

Song of the day: Animal Collective - "Today's Supernatural"

Psychedelic band from Baltimore, Maryland - Animal Collective recently released their ninth studio album entitled Centipede Hz. The record got mixed reviews, but I think it is good. I haven't listened to the album a lot though, but based on those couple times I gave it a try, I liked it.

This experimental formation, which consists of David Portner aka Avey Tare, Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear, Josh Dibb aka Deakin and Brian Weitz aka Geologist is currently on tour in support of their latest effort throughout Canada and US. In November, they will head to Europe. To see all their tour dates, visit their website.

YouTube channel of their label, Domino Records, recently posted two videos of their live performances at Prospect Park Brooklyn in 2011. You can now check live performances of "Today's Supernatural" and "Father Time" below. They are awesome. Especially, those effects are sick.

Check out new Band of Skulls music video

English alternative rock band Band Of Skulls have a new music video. Song called "You're Not Pretty But You Got It Goin' On"comes from band's last record entitled Sweet Sour. This record was released on February 21, 2012 and it is definitely a good listen.

And if you don't know these guys yet, also check out their debut LP Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, which came out on April 7, 2009. My favorite track of it is "Fires":

Yesterday, Green Day also debuted uncensored version of their music video for track "Oh Love". It features uncut footage with topless girls. It is pretty cool. To see the video, visit Playboy website.

The Kills revealed new music video

Duo The Kills has been celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. For this occasion, they played an amazing gig at New York City's Terminal 5 at the beginning of this year and they also just recently released a photo book, which features a lot of photos from their 10-year existence as a band.

During their career, they have so far released four studio albums - Keep on Your Mean Side (2003), No Wow (2005), Midnight Boom (2008) and Blood Pressures (2011) (you can read a mini review here).

Track called "Wild Charms" comes from their latest effort. They recently made a music video for this song. Piece directed by Kenneth Cappello is a simple, short music video, which features just Jamie Hince smoking and drinking. Check it out below.

Placebo will release new EP

British band Placebo is one of my favorite bands of all times. I really love these guys and love how passionate they are about their music. I also love their love performances, which are many times better than studio versions. I had a chance to see them live in 2009 in Czech Republic at Rock for People festival.

Their last sixth studio album entitled Battle For The Sun came out in June of 2009. Since then they released redux edition of this record, EP Live At Angkor Wat (which is an amazing live EP),  and also live DVD We Come in Pieces (it came out on October 31, 2011).

This means that all the Placebo fans have been waiting for new full-length album for more than 3 years and it seem like they will have to wait more - band has recently announced that they will release new EP.

It is entitled B3EP and it will be out on October 15, 2012. It will feature five brand new tracks: "B3", "I Know You Want To Stop", "The Extra", "I.K.W.Y.L." and "Time Is Money".

The band also announced interesting competition where people are asked to create their own artwork of the album. Winner will be picked by the band itself and will receive a framed test print of the B3EP artwork, signed by Placebo.

To preorder the album and also listen to snippets of all tracks featured on the EP, visit itunes store. Based on previews, the album sounds good.

Watch Lana Del Rey sing "Blue Velvet" in new H&M ad

As you may already know, Lana Del Rey has become a face of popular clothing company H&M. Her first 30-second long spot is now airing in Scandinavian H&M stores.

In the advertisement spot she appears in two outfits from her recent H&M lookbook.

In the commercial she sings 1950s classic song "Blue Velvet" written by Bernie Wayne and Lee Morris. Since then, the song has been recorded by many other artists. Film of the same name was also made in 1986.

Although creators of the spot tried to reference David Lynch's film, they didn't get it quite right. The H&M ad is a direct homage to Lynch's early 90s TV series Twin Peaks.

Anyway, watch the commercial below.

Song of the day: The Tallest Man on Earth - "Revelation Blues"

Swedish singer Kristian Matsson aka The Tallest Man on Earth performed "Revelation Blues" for Pitchfork Magazine. This track comes from his last third studio album entitled There's No Leaving Now, which came out on June 11, 2012.

I actually found out about this folk artist only recently and I really like him. He reminds me Ben Howard a lot.

Picture of the day: September 18, 2012

Bad Religion updated their cover picture on their Facebook page couple of days ago. The photo features all band members (including Brett Gurewitz) except guitarist Greg Hetson in the studio.

They've been recording new, yet-untitled, album since July when I informed you about it. Well, it's been over two months since they started recording it so I assume we can expect sixteenth studio album from this legendary punk band later this year or in early 2013.

The band also posted this exact photo on their official website with a note saying:

"The band just sent out an e-mail with a photo of the band (except for Greg Hetson) in the studio to all Bad Religion fans that registered to the mailing list on badreligion.com.

Again produced by Brett and Joe Barresi, the photo appears to be taken at Joe's House of Compression. In contrary to the process that went into making The Dissent of Man, this time no demos were recorded in smaller studios (such as Sunset Lodge in January 2010).

Also, this is the first time since The Process Of Belief (2001) that a Bad Religion album is recorded analog!"

I'm so excited about this record and I am really looking forward to the sound of this record since it's been recorded analog. To follow all the news about recording process, go here.

Soundgarden revealed new album details

American rock band from Seattle Soundgarden was on hiatus basically since 1997 after they released their last studio album entitled Down on the Upside (it came out on May 21, 1996) until January 1, 2010 when they informed via their Twitter account that their 12-year long break is over.

Earlier this year they released one new track as part of The Avengers movie soundtrack. Song called "Live To Rise" is actually pretty good:

Well, now is officially confirmed what a lot of people was expecting - Soundgarden will release full-length album. The LP called King Animal will come out on November 13 via Seven Four Entertainment/Republic Records. It was recorded in at Studio X in Seattle and was produced by Adam Kasper who previously worked with the band on 1994's fourth studio record called Superunknown.

I'm really glad that this record is truly a group effort because everybody contributed to the new album with something. For instance, guitarist Kim Thayil wrote lyrics for the track "Non-State Actor," and bassist Ben Shepherd contributed the lyrics for "Attrition."

The band also made a trailer, which you can watch below.

Tracklisting of King Animal:

1. "Been Away Too Long"
2. "Non-State Actor"
3. "By Crooked Steps"
4. "A Thousand Days Before"
5. "Blood On The Valley Floor"
6. "Bones of Birds"
7. "Taree"
8. "Attrition"
9. "Black Saturday"
10. "Halfway There"
11. "Worse Dreams"
12. "Eyelid's Mouth"
13. "Rowing"

Song of the day: Ortopilot - "With Or Without You" (cover)

Ortopilot is an YouTube artist, which does a lot of awesome music videos. He does mainly covers of popular songs of various genres. He always kind of change the arrangements of the song and you can really hear it is Ortopilot's work. I definitely recommend you to check out his channel.

Roughly four months ago, he posted cover video of U2's great track "With Or Without You", which he recorded with another YouTuber mikiecollings1. It is awesome duet, which you can check out below.

Gary Clark Jr. revealed new album details

Let me introduce you one awesome artist that I recently discovered. Gary Clark Jr. is an american singer and guitarist who's music is mainly influenced by rock and roll and blues music.

It will contain 12 own compositions and one cover, which is actually cover of two songs - Little Johnny Taylor’s "If You Love Me Like You Say" and Jimi Hendrix’s "Third Stone From The Sun". The album was produced by Mike Elizondo (Mastodon, Fiona Apple, Dr. Dre) and Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance).

First single of the record is track named "Ain’t Messin ‘Round". And I gotta say that it is awesome track that makes me very excited about this record. Listen to this song below.

Today's song of the day is Enter Shikari's track called "Arguing With Thermometers" from their last studio record entitled A Flash Flood Of Colour (read a review of it here). It is a great record.

Pretty cool photo of Paramore and british You Me at Six.

Watch new Sigur Rós music video

Sigur Rós revealed another music video as part of their ongoing Valtari Mistery Film Experiment. The band has decided to give dozen film makers the same budget and ask them to make video which will capture their feelings during listening to Valtari. Interesting thing is that they have given complete freedom to these film makers. Fans can also vote, which video is the best.

Video called "Seraph" is the ninth video. It was made by Dash Shaw (comic book artist) and John Cameron Mitchell (cult film director). It features snippets of Valtari tracks "Rembihnútur" and "Ekki Múkk".

The video is pretty wild because it features a lot of depressing and gritty surrealism. You can watch it below.

You can also watch all other videos entitled "Ég anda" 1, "Ég anda" 2, "Varúð" 1, "Varúð" 2, "Fjögur píanó", "Rembihnútur", "Varðeldur" and "Dauðalogn" via the website mentioned above.

According to that website, next video is coming on September 24 and I will definitely inform you about  it right after it comes out.

Song of the day: The XX - "Angels"

The XX released their sophomore album entitled Coexist earlier this month. They continued with their minimalistic sound based on both female and male vocals accompanied by simple guitar and bass on this record.

They are set to go on north american tour in support of their latest effort. You can check all their tour dates here.

They also stopped by and played at this year's Bestival, which took place at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight, England on 6-9 September. You can check performance of Coexist's opener -"Angels", from this festival below.

Picture of the day: September 12, 2012

This picture was posted by Lou Reed via his Facebook with caption "Sectioned" yesterday (September 11). It is a reaction on lawsuit over iconic cover of Velvet Underground's debut album Velvet Underground & Nico, which came out in 1967.

Lou Reed and John Cale initiated that their band should own the copyright to this famous picture instead of Andy Warhol Foundation. However, judge recently threw this claim out.

So the argument about trademarks continues because there is a lot of money in it - the album is celebrating its 45th anniversary and for this occasion six-disc album is set to be released as well as iPhone and iPad accessories.

I think this whole situation is just ridiculous and I think that both Andy Warhol Foundation and Velvet Underground should own the copyright for this picture.

Here is the original cover of the album:

Song of the day: Lana Del Rey - "Born To Die"

I know that Lana Del Rey is an artist, which a lot of people don't like for several reasons. And I understand those reasons. I know that there are a lot of haters, but also plenty of lovers of her. And even though I'm not saying that I listen to her music every day, her style is pretty unique as well as her voice and songwritting.

Her live performances are also pretty good. Example are these two performances from Premises:

And maybe she have fucked up big time her SNL appearance earlier this year, but she can really sing well. I think that she was just too nervous during SNL.

Anyways, this acoustic performance of "Born To Die" was recorded at Poolside at Chateau Marmont and it is really awesome.

Watch: Green Day - "Nuclear Family"

It seems like Green Day are unstoppable these days. They have been all over the news since the announcement of their album trilogy release. They are constantly making new music videos ahead of release of their first record ;Uno!, which comes out on September 25. ¡Dos! will be out on November 13 and ¡Tré!, will be released on January 15, 2013.

Now they revealed new song along with music video. "Nuclear Family" is title of the song. It features simple straight-forward music video, which you can watch below.

Stream new Band of Horses album

These days, it is very popular to stream the albums on the internet ahead of their release. Artists actually have several reasons for this. One and the most common reason is the fact that the album has leaked so they give it away anyway as a free stream. Another reason may be artist's kindness or they just want people to hear the album in full length so fans actually know what they're buying.

Next band that has done this is american alternative band Band of Horses. They are streaming their new album Mirage Rock on SoundCloud. The album will be officially released next week (September 18). Give it a try below.

Stream new record from The Killers!

You all probably know that The Killers are releasing their fourth very anticipated studio album entitled Battle Born next week (September 18).

However, now you can stream the album in its entirety via iTunes ahead of its release. Some of you may not be able to stream it though because it is streamed only in some iTunes stores. For example, Slovak store is not included...

Meanwhile, watch music video for their first single of the album "Runaways":

Tracklisting of Battle Born:

01. Flesh and Bone
02. Runaways
03. The Way It Was
04. Here with Me
05. A Matter of Time
06. Deadlines and Commitments
07. Miss Atomic Bomb
08. The Rising Tide
09. Heart of a Girl
10. From Here on Out
11. Be Still
12. Battle Born

Watch The Avett Brothers perform at Jimmy Kimmel

Folk rockers The Avett Brothers made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live night show. You can watch performances of two tracks - "Live and Die" and "February Seven" at the bottom of the post.

Both tracks come from their new record entitled The Carpenter. The record is actually out today (September 11).

UPDATED:
There were uploaded other two videos on Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube Channel. Check them out:

Song of the day: Minus The Bear: "Empty Party Rooms"

American band from Seattle, Minus The Bear, stopped by at Guitar Center's Vintage room in Hollywood, CA and performed three brand new songs from their recent album entitled Infinity Overhead. It came out couple of weeks ago - on August 28.

Check out performance of "Empty Party Rooms" below.

Sum 41 stream new music video

Canadian Sum 41 have a new music video. The video was shot for track called "Blood In My Eyes" from their latest, grammy-nominated sixth studio album Screaming Bloody Murder, which came out in 2011.

Seven-and-a-half-minute long video is definitely not kind of a music video that will be played on TV. It's got a lot of blood in it. I am a fan of it though because I like music videos that have a story. Check it out below.

Watch new music video from Lostprophets

Popular Welsh band Lostprophets, revealed new music video for new single "Jesus Walks". The single is officially released today (September 10).

It is third single after "Bring 'Em Down" and "We Bring An Arsenal" from their last, fifth studio album Weapons.

Watch the video below.

Coldplay performed at Paralympics 2012 closing ceremony, which took place yesterday (September 9) in London.

They were joined on stage by popular singer Rihanna. Here's the photo from this performance:

Song of the day: Serj Tankian - "Harakiri"

In July, Serj Tankian appeared at Jimmy Kimmel Live show. You can now watch performance of title track from his latest record Harakiri, which came out on July 10.

It is quite good record, but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that new album from SOAD would be much better.

Picture of the day: September 7, 2012

To finish this little series of pictures from Reading and Leeds, I chose The Black Keys.

This duo put out their seventh studio album last year. Record entitled El Camino finally made these guys famous all over the world thanks to positive reviews. Some even say that it was the best record of 2011.

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Song of the day: Billy Talent - "Viking Death March"

Canadian Billy Talent are releasing their fourth studio album entitled Dead Silence (you can stream it at the bottom of the page in its entirety). It will be out on September 11. Interesting is that they didn't name this album Billy Talent IV...

They have already released two singles from this album. First is "Viking Death March" and the second is "Surprise, Surprise".

You can now watch performance of firstly mentioned from recent Reading Festival 2012. It is pretty great performance.

Stream Dead Silence:

Green Day made a surprise show at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals during which they performed their legendary Dookie in its entirety.

This record, which came out in 1994 was Green Day's breakthrough record and with The Offspring's Smash, it was a record that completely changed punkrock scene.

Watch new music video from The Black Keys

American rock duo The Black Keys, which got a lot of attention lately after release of their latest record El Camino (read my mini review of it here), couple of days ago revealed a new music video for their current single "Little Black Submarines".

Music video features band playing in this really small music club. In fact, this club is typical place for starting bands. It's got small stage, sparkling stuff behind the band and quite a few people who probably don't even care for the band that is playing.

The only thing about this video is that they used radio edit version of the song, which is like one-minute shorter. I think that this wasn't necessary because no TV stations these days broadcast music videos and therefore they can be as long as artists want.

Anyway, watch the video here:

Song of the day: Got Blue Balls - "Devil in Bed"

Got Blue Balls is a band from my country - Slovakia. However, they sound like some british rock band. They make great music with dirty bass and guitars.

So far, they released only one self-entitled LP, but it is great LP. Check out their "Devil in Bed" for which they recently made promo video.

Picture of the day: September 5, 2012

This photo was taken on Saturday at Reading Festival. It captures Enter Shikari's Roughton Reynolds in his typical position during a live show.

I had a chance to check out these guys at this year's Rock for People festival and I gotta say they were awesome. There is so much energy in their live shows and that's what I like.

Enter Shikari also put out an awesome record this year entitled A Flash Flood of Colour. You can check my review of it here.

Watch new music video from Muse

Today, Muse revealed new music video for their current single "Madness", which you can watch the the bottom of the post. "Madness" is also the first single of their very anticipated new record The 2nd Law, which comes out on October 1.

The video was directed by Anthony Mandler who previously directed music videos such as Lana Del Rey's "National Anthem", The Killers' "A Dustland Fairytale", "Tranquilize", and "When You Were Young" and also Muse's "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)".

However, most of the time he collaborates with artists like Rihanna, Drake, Jay-Z, Usher, or Enrique Iglesias.

Deftones announce new album

In April of this year, I informed you about new album from Deftones. However, there was no official release date, album title or tracklisting revealed in that time. But that all has changed.

The album is called Koi No Yokan and it will be out on November 13 via Reprise Records. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who also produced band's last effort - 2010′s Diamond Eyes.

Even though, tracklisting is still unknown, band recently debuted two new tracks - "Roller Derby" and "Rosemary".

If you live in the US, you will be happy because Deftones will go on North American tour later this year. Check out all the tour dates below.

09/22 – Irvine, CA @ Epicenter
09/23 – Sacramento, CA @ Aftershock Festival
10/09 – Ventura, CA @ Ventura Theatre
10/10 – San Francisco, CA @ Warfield
10/12 – Portland, OR @ Roseland Ballroom

10/16 – Boise, ID @ Knitting Factory
10/17 – Salt Lake City, UT @ In The Venue
10/19 – Denver, CO @ Fillmore Auditorium
10/20 – Kansas City, MO @ Harrah’s
10/21 – Columbia, MO @ Blue Note
10/23 – Chicago, IL @ Aragon Ballroom
10/24 – Royal Oak, MI @ Royal Oak Music Theatre
10/26 – Baltimore, MD @ Rams Head Live
10/28 -Philadelphia, PA @ The Electric Factory
10/29 – Boston, MA @ House of Blues
10/30 – New York, NY @ Terminal 5

Stream new album from The XX

New album from minimalistic indie pop band The XX entitled Coexist isn't out until next week (September 10). However, the band made available to stream the record in its entirety.

And it is actually pretty cool stream because it also features map of the world showing all the people who stream the album and their location.

The album itself is pretty obvious follow-up to their self-titled debut record, which came out in 2009. Thinking that these guys would change their unique style and sound is in my opinion just absurd.

Anyway, stream the record here over their official website or below via embed code.

Tracklisting of Coexist:

01. Angels
02. Chained
03. Fiction
04. Try
05. Reunion
06. Sunset
07. Missing
08. Tides
09. Unfold

The Rolling Stones will release two new tracks

You all probably know that legendary band The Rolling Stones is celebrating their 50th anniversary. To mark this occasion they released a book entitled The Rolling Stones 50, which features over 1000 illustrations. Furthermore, documentary movie called Crossfire Hurricane featuring never-before-seen footage will hit UK theaters in October, and will be premiered on HBO at the end of the year.

The band also changed their logo (which you can see on top of the post) for this occasion.

But that's not everything. The Rolling Stones are also releasing new career-spanning compilation called GRRR!. It will feature 50 tracks on three discs (deluxe edition will contain 80 tracks).

As a bonus, compilation album will as well contain two brand new tracks. They are entitled "Gloom and Doom" and "One Last Shot". They were both recorded in Paris last month (August). It is their first new material since their 2005's album A Bigger Bang.

Well, fans of The Rolling Stones can finally calm down because celebrations are finally taking shape. The only thing that's still missing are tour dates...

Song of the day: Marilyn Manson feat. Rammstein - "Beautiful People"

I think that Rammstein's music perfectly fit Manson's style and therefore this performance is really great and it even seems like Rammstein is Manson's regular backing band.

Picture of the day: September 4, 2012

This one also comes from Reading Festival and it features The Gaslight Anthem's frontman Brian Fallon.

These guys recently released an awesome record. I definitely recommend you to check out Handwritten.

Tori Amos revealed first track from her upcoming album

American singer Tori Amos revealed first track from her upcoming record entitled Gold Dust. The album will be compilation of her old tracks, which she re-recorded and gave them different sound and style. She even invited famous holland Metropole Orchestra to help her with this album.

First single of the record is track called "Flavor", which was originally on 2009's Abnormally Attracted to Sin. She also made a music video for this album, which you can check out below. Gold Dust will be out on October 13 via Deutsche Grammophon. It will feature 14 tracks, which were selected by Amos herself. She said about the album:
"My relationship with these songs has changed over the years. It wasn't just about capturing the past, but also about my realization that these songs have different story than 10 or 20 years ago, where I initially recorded them."

Tracklisting of Gold Dust:

1. "Flavor (Abnormally Attracted to Sin; 2009)
2. "Yes, Anastasia" (Under the Pink; 1994)

13. "Silent All These Years" (Little Earthquakes; 1992)
14. "Girl Disappearing" (American Doll Posse; 2007)

Tori Amos also plans to go on mini tour in suppor of this album. She will appear in Rotterdam, Brussel and London with already mentioned Metropole Orchestra. She will also appear in Warsaw, but without the orchestra.

Watch music video for Bob Dylan's new single

Two months ago, I informed you about new studio record from folk legend Bob Dylan. Tempest will be his 35th studio album and it will come out on September 10.

"Duquesne Whistle" is opener of the record and also first single from the album. It is nice catchy song featuring typical Dylan's singing. I actually like this song.

There was also recently revealed music video for this track. It was directed by 39-year old Nash Edgerton. Dylan himself appears in the video several times.

Music video is situated in Los Angeles where some young man tries to attract pretty girl. However, he gets into some trouble while doing it. He even gets into jail. Watch the video below.

Green Day had to cancel today's show at Bologna

Well, this news obviously didn't please fans in Italy. However, Green Day can't play today's show, which was schedule to take place in Bologna, Italy, today (September 3, 2012).

The reason for this is unspecified illness of frontman - Billy Joe Armstrong. He was forced to go to the hospital last night and thus won't be able to perform tonight.

Here you can watch official video message from other two band members (Mike and Tre).

Check out new song from Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard

Frontman of alternative rock band Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Gibbard, is releasing his debut solo album entitled Former Lives on October 16 via Barsuk. It will feature 12 previously unreleased or remade tracks also with host appearances from Jon Wurster, Mark Spencer, and Aimee Mann.

He said about the album:

“It wasn’t a goal and it certainly wasn’t a reaction to any sort of dissatisfaction to recording with Death Cab or anything like that. In the past whenever I’ve put out any solo recordings it’s just been of a function of the time in which I was in. I’m a songwriter and that’s my job, and with every record that we’ve made there would always be a couple of tunes that just didn’t seem to fit in with the band.”

Recently he also revealed first track of the album. Song is entitled "Teardrop Windows" and it sounds a lot like Death Cab for Cutie song. That brings me to thinking that he could just record all these songs with his band. However, maybe other tracks sound completely different and are nothing like Death Cab for Cutie - we'll see.

First when Ben Gibbard announced this solo album, I thought that it will be really dark, sad and twisted album because he recently broke up with actress Zooey Deschanel. But based on this track, I was mistaken...

Tracklisting of Former Lives:

01. "Shepherd’s Bush Lullaby"
02. "Dream Song"
03. "Teardrop Windows"
04. "Bigger Than Love"
05. "Lily"
06. "Something’s Rattling (Cowpoke)"
07. "Duncan, Where Have You Gone?"
08. "Oh, Woe"
09. "A Hard One to Know"
10. "Lady Adelaide"
11. "Broken Yolk in Western Sky"
12. "I’m Building a Fire"

Song of the day: Frank Turner - "I Still Believe"

Folk-punk british artist Frank Turner did a huge gig at Wembley Arena earlier this year. He performed in front of 12,000 people, which was so far his biggest headline show.

On October 2, he will release DVD from this gig entitled Last Minutes and Lost Evenings. You can pre-order it at http://www.epitaphstore.com.

Also, you can now watch the performance of "I Still Believe" (in my opinion his greatest track ever) from this DVD below.

Picture of the day: September 3, 2012

This week, I decided to dedicate the whole segment "Picture of the day" to Reading and Leeds festivals.

First photo features great Dave Grohl rocking out at Reading. Reading and Leeds gigs were Foo Fighters' last shows for some time. I hope that not for long though. Rock scene needs them...

Check out new music video from Green Day

There has been a lot of news about Green Day lately, but it doesn't seem like it's over. They always come up with something new these days so yeah, I'm gonna talk about them as long as they keep doing that.

Now they revealed new music video for their previously heard new track from ;Uno! called "Kill The DJ". It features all band members riding motorcycles across some desert.
The music video is not as good, but I like the song actually. Main guitar sounds really great. What do you think of Greey Day's new music?

Listen to new Stone Sour!

You all probably know that Stone Sour is Corey Taylor's (singer of Slipknot) second band. During their career they released three studio albums and two other are on the way.

Yes, Stone Sour is releasing not only one new record, but two new albums. They are entitled House of Gold and Bones Part 1 and House of Gold and Bones Part 2 and they will be released via Roadrunner Records. First one will be out on October 23 and the second one in the early 2013 (exact release date hasn't been announced yet).

Couple of days ago, band revealed first two tracks of the album. They are called "Gone Sovereign" and  "Absolute Zero". You can check them both out by watching video at the bottom.

I think that both songs are pretty good. In fact, I like everything Corey Taylor does. I think he's an amazing artist.
