The Gaslight Anthem reveal album details + new track

New Jersey's rockers The Gaslight Anthem have just premiered their new single from their forthcoming studio album entitled Handwritten. The single is called "45" and the album will be out on July 23. You can listen to the track at the bottom of the post. It is actually quite awesome track. I wish the whole album was as good as this song.

Follow-up to American Slang was recorded in Nashville and band confirmed that they've also recorded number of covers and b-side tracks.

Stream new album from Tenacious D

Tenacious D's third studio album Rize Of The Fenix is officially out on May 14. However, you can now stream it in its entirety. You can listen to it at the bottom of the post.

Dave Grohl, like on their self-titled effort and also on The Pick Of Destiny, once again played the drums on this record.

I have listened to the album once so far, but based on that one listen, it is awesome record. What do you think?

Jack White to make a soundtrack

Jack White just recently released his debut solo album Blunderbuss, which is great by the way. However, he is very busy guy and therefore he will make an entire soundtrack for new Disney movie called The Lone Ranger. Johnny Depp is the main star of this movie.

I think that this is exciting news because this soundtrack automatically becomes one of the best soundtracks of 2013.

Producer of movie Jerry Bruckheimer said about White:

"He is an amazing songwriter with a unique style. We’re thrilled to hear his fresh take on the William Tell Overture."

This is first time Jack White will actually score the entire movie. He previously made couple of songs for movies Quantum of Solace and Cold Mountain.

Blur to release 21-disc box set

Recently I informed you about the fact that frontman of Gorillaz and Blur Damon Albarn will probably be finished with both bands. Therefore, it is quite understandable that Blur is releasing something like this. Legendary brit-pop band will release 21-disc box set, which will include:

- two-disc special editions of all their seven studio albums
- four disc of rare tracks
- three DVDs
- 7" live recording of "Superman"

Jack White previously said about the record:

"I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas."

Linkin Park revealed their new comeback song entitled "Burn It Down". You can hear the track at the bottom of the page. It is first track revealed from their forthcoming album Living Things, which comes out on June 25 in the UK and June 26 in the US.

Leader of the band Chester Bennington promised they will come back to their typical sound on this record. He said:

"With this album, we've incorporated a lot of guitar work with big choruses and the heavier electronic stuff to give it that really big wall of sound feeling without getting too metal. This will be more familiar to people than 'A Thousand Suns' was, where we were like 'Fuck it, we're just going to go bonkers."

Watch Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp perform together

Couple of days ago, 2012 Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles took place. Marilyn Manson headlined the ceremony. He made almost 19-minute long performance during which he played four tracks. However, it wasn't an ordinary performance.

He played two tracks with popular actor and Manson's good friend Johnny Depp. He played with him cover song "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" and his best tune "The Beautiful People". Watch the whole performance here (via YouTube). It was a good performance except Manson's voice. It was kinda bad that night.

Johnny Depp will also appear on Marilyn Manson's forthcoming album entitled Born Villain, which is out on May 1. They will perform together cover version of Carly Simon’s "You’re So Vain" on the album.

Green Day will release three new albums

Yes, I know that it's crazy, but Green Day are set to released album trilogy. So we won't get only one new album from these guys, but three new records.

Each record will be released one at a time. First one called ¡UNO! will be out in September, second one called ¡DOS! will be out in November and the last one entitled ¡TRE! will be out in January 2013.

Frontman Billy Joe Armstrong tweeted via his official Twitter account:

"Ok. Here's the deal. We're making a 3 album trilogy. Not 1. Not 2. But 3 albums. Called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! Coming September November January."

We've known about the fact that the band is busy working on new album because of their frequent studio updates they post on their YouTube channel, however, nobody probably expected anything like this. It is great that they are still able to write so much new music after all these years, but I am kind of worried that not all the tracks will be as good as the others.

End of Blur and Gorillaz?

In a recent interview with The Guardian magazine, frontman of Blur and Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, said that both band will most likely end. Even though Blur are set to perform at this year's summer Olympics, there will be no more gigs or new music probably.

He said that the main reason for Blur not putting out anything new is relationship between bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. He said:

"It’s harder for them to reconnect. You know what I mean? It’s fine when we play live – it’s really magical still – but actually recording new stuff, and swapping musical influences… it’s quite difficult."

He also mentioned that we should not expect any more new music from Gorillaz either. He mentioned that he and his co-creator, animator Jamie Hewlett, "were at cross purposes somewhat on [Plastic Beach], which is a shame. So until a time comes when that knot has been untied…."

Frontman of both bands pointed out that "the music and the videos weren’t working as well together, but I felt we’d made a really good record, and I was into it. So we went and played it."

However, this does not mean that Damon Albarn is not doing anything. He's currently preparing record with his side project Rocket Juice And The Moon (with Flea and Tony Allen) and the soundtrack to his musical, Dr. Dee.

Watch new music video from Jack White

"Sixteen Saltines" is second track revealed from Jack White's debut solo album Blunderbuss, which is in stores on April 24. He also made a crazy video for this song. You can now watch it below.

Listen to new Disco Ensemble track

It seems like Finnish indie rockers are back after little quiet from them. They announced new tour dates, which you can check out here. They are set to play mostly in Finland, but they also announced two festival gigs at german Hurricane and Southside festivals. Hopefully, they'll add more shows.

Disco Ensemble also posted new video from studio. They perform new song in it called "Your Shadow" and you can check it here (via vimeo). It sound all right I guess. It's got more keyboards in it and less guitars, but that doesn't mean it's worse. It's just little different than what I'm used to from these guys.

Listen Florence + The Machine and Josh Homme perform together

Two very different artists joined forces and covered Johnny Cash/June Carter's song "Jackson". Florence + The Machine and Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme performed together this track as part of MTV Unplugged series. It will premiere on April 21 on MTV Music. However, you can now listen to the track below. It shows QOTSA leader in completely different light, but I like it.

SOAD's Serj Tankian to release new solo album this summer

Even though System Of A Down reunited last summer for plenty of shows and they will also play shows this year, no new album is expected form the this band. However, frontman Serj Tankian will release new solo album this summer.

It will be entitled Harakiri and it should be out in couple of next months. It was all produced and recorded by Serj with the help of an iPad. Tracks of this album were written in year 2011.

Tankian said about the record following:

"The year 2011 started with a fire. Some kids in Piha, NZ were setting off fireworks that landed on my neighbor’s property and lit the whole hill on fire. I knew it was going to be a hell of a year and it certainly was. Within 5 days of that, reports came out about birds and fish dying in massive numbers globally. The omen was not lost on me. Varied creatures on earth were committing massive hara-kiri (the Japanese term signifying ritualistic suicide.) Do they know something we don’t about the coming times or the sustainability of the environment? That is the day I started writing this record.

The album is much more driving and punk oriented, with influences ranging from goth to electronic to 80′s vibes, dynamically heavy rock to epic melodic songs."

Me personally, I would be much more happier if SOAD released new album. However, I believe this one will be good, too.
