Live Review: The Subways @ MMC, Bratislava, Slovakia

The Computers
Last Friday (October 28), I got to see one of my most favorite bands - british The Subways.

These indie rockers are well known for their crazy concerts full of wildness and energy. This concert was their third ever gig in Slovakia (they previously appeared at two outdoor festivals in 2008 and 2010). The demand for this venue was huge. It was sold out one month ahead.

Support band - The Computers did a great support band for the main act. They warmed up the crowd by doing a great show. However, everybody was waiting for the main band.  It would be really good if they did they own concert and show everything they can really do.

Something around 10 pm lights went off and everybody was expecting The Subways to come on stage. They kicked off the show with their classic hit "Oh Yeah" from their first album Young for Eternity. Everybody from the crowd went crazy right away after hearing starting drum beat. They continued playing songs from their first and second album called All or Nothing. They played "Young for Eternity", "Obsession", "Alright" and "Mary".

Sixth song from the setlist was first from their newest album Money and Celebrity - "We Don't Need Money to Have a Good Time". Probably everybody was singing along the chorus of this kick-ass with singer Billy Lunn.

They continued to play mixture of songs from all their three albums such as "Popdeath", "Turnaround", "Kiss Kiss Band Bang", "Rock & Roll Queen" or "I Want to Hear What You Got to Say".

They finished the main set with "With You" during which everybody was singing along.

Of course, the band came back after huge applause and played three more songs - "Friday", "At 1 AM" and "It's a Party" which perfectly captured the atmosphere of this gig. It was the best song to end the show with. Billy went absolutely nuts during this one. He went stage diving and then he jumped off the balcony from roughly 3 meters.

This gig was great. It was fun, wild and most importantly, everybody was enjoying it. Even the band was surprised by the great atmosphere, which those 1,000 people at Bratislava's Majestic Music Club created.

The trio later after show went to give some autographs and take photos.

Metallica's debut gig in India canceled

Metallica had to cancel concert in Delhi,India, which was supposed to happen last Friday (October 28). The gig had to be cancelled due to low security at the event.

Here is band's official statement from their site:

"We arrived in Delhi on Friday very excited and ready to play our first show ever in India at the F1 Rocks concert. However, immediately at the end of our afternoon press conference at a hotel near the venue, we were notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience. And our first and foremost concern is always for the safety of you, the fans.

Once we, along with DNA, the promoters of the show, determined that there was a failure of a security barricade in front of the stage that could not be adequately repaired, the promoter reluctantly announced the postponement of the show until Saturday. Unfortunately, on such short notice the promoters were unable to secure a permit for a show on Saturday. Therefore, DNA announced that we would not be able to play in Delhi. Within the next 24 hours a notification will be issued by DNA regarding the process for full refunds.

We are deeply disappointed with this news as we were looking forward to our first experience in India as much as you guys were. Keep watching for updates here as additional details are determined and confirmed."

Historically first Metallica gig in India was played in Bangalore two days later.

Yellowcard releases acoustic album

Yellowcard just released their seventh studio album earlier this year called When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes. They surprised all the fans when they released acoustic album today. It is already available on iTunes. Physically it will be available on October 31.

They made a statement about the album on their site saying:

Over the course of our career, Yellowcard has always taken pride and enjoyment in
performing our songs in an acoustic setting whenever possible. Last year when we
finished recording “When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes”, we decided to record
a few of the songs to be used as b-sides here and there. Shortly after the
release we noticed the incredible response that the acoustic version of “Sing
For Me” was getting online. We thought, “what if we recorded all the songs this
way and tried to get Hopeless Records to release it as an acoustic version of
the entire record?” Lucky for us they seemed to think that was a great idea.

We began using every free day or night we had in early 2011 to finish recording
all ten songs acoustically. One of the things we are most proud of is that we
produced and mixed this entire record on our own. (Much credit is due to Ryan
Mendez for his sleepless nights behind the computer.) This is something the band
has wanted to do for a very long time and we have been looking forward to
surprising all of our fans with this record. It is the least we can do for the
amazing support they have given us as we try to rebuild this career that we love
so much.

So here it is, “When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes (Acoustic). It has been a
hard secret to keep these last few months but we are confident that our fans
will keep this album close to their hearts. It is both a huge accomplishment for
us as a band, and a massive thank you to all of the people who continue to stand
behind this band. We hope you love it."

Gallows premiered second new song with singer Wade MacNeil

Gallows premiered another new song after "True Colours" which was revealed earlier. Second new song was premiered during their live show in House of Blues, Boston last week. It is entitled "Mondo Chaos".

The band had to replace their former singer Frank Carter with Wade MacNeil earlier this summer. They recently spoke about Carter`s departure.

Guitarist Steph Carter said:

"Frank wanted a change in direction. He wanted something that took us to the next step of being a big, successful, straight-up rock band, like Queens Of The Stone Age. The rest of us weren't ready for that."

Watch the performance of "Mondo Chaos" below.

According to frontman of The Prodigy, Liam Howlett, Dave Grohl asked him to do this remix. There is also instrumental version of the remix.

Howlett wrote on Soundcloud:

"my remix of 'white limo'/ foo fighters that dave asked me to do , heres the instrumental for yo ass aswell !"

I gotta say that the remix is really good. Prodigy made it sound like its their song...
