Picture of the day: October 9, 2012

British band The Wombats posted this photo on their Facebook page couple of days ago. It captures the band during Pure Volume sessions.

Watch Ben Howard perform at Jimmy Kimmel

British folk singer Ben Howard made a live appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live show last night (October 8). He performed two songs from his only album Every Kingdom (check out my mini review of it here) - "The Wolves" and "Only Love".

Of course, both performances are amazing. His guitar skills are really good and that's main aspect of his music. Also, I like his voice even though I heard opinions claiming that he can't really sing. But I don't think it is true.

Watch new music video from The Vaccines

British The Vaccines are releasing third single entitled "I Always Knew" from their recent Come of Age album on November 11. For this occasion, yesterday they released music video for this track. It features singer Justin Young and some random girl on roller coaster having some fun together. Check it out at the bottom of the post.

The band will also go on extensive tour throughout Europe, South America, Australia and USA starting on October 14 in Corona Capital, Mexico. Big tour will end on May 2 in London's O2 Arena. It will be their biggest headline show to date. To see all their tour dates, visit their website.

Song of the day: Tomahawk - "Stone Letter"

Mike Patton was pretty busy touring with his main band Faith No More during late June and early July of this year. They scheduled 9 shows throughout the Europe. Although one of the shows they were supposed to play at Rock for People festival, Czech republic, didn't happen because of a storm.

Anyway, many fans, including me, actually hoped we could get some new music from this legendary band. Their last album to date entitled Album of the Year came out in 1997. That means, they haven't put out any new music in long 15 years. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem it will happen any time soon.

Mike Patton's side band Tomahawk, which he formed with ex-The Jesus Lizard guitar player Duane Denison, released new track and is about to release a new album in early 2013.

First new album in six years is called Oddfellows and will be out on January 29 via Ipecac Recordings. First track revealed form this album is called "Stone Letter" and you can listen to it here (via Spin).

The band also announced several tour dates throughout North America, Australia and South America including Australia’s Soundwave and both Latin American installments of Lollapalooza. Check them out below.

Check out Bloc Party's new music video

British indie rock band Bloc Party, which recently reunited and consequently released their fourth comeback studio album simply entitled Four in August of 2012, has a new music video.

It is made for new second single of the record called "Kettling". It will officially be released next month (November 12).

It is one of the heavier tracks on the record and it is really good as the whole album actually. Although many people say they came back to their original sound, which isn't necessarily a good thing, I really dig guitar-driven sound more than their more electronic efforts (e.g. third album Intimacy).

Anyway, there are always two sides. One represents the people that say the band stopped their evolution and used nothing new on this record. Other side of the coin represents the people, which appreciate their "back-to-the-roots" sound. I belong to the second group. What do you think of the record?

Anyway, check out the new music video below. It was directed by James Lees who previously worked with Two Door Cinema Club, Blood Red Shoes or Shakira.
